w Check out the newest interpreters to the Pamplin Historical Park -- five sheep! The sheep include a 10-year-old ram and four 4-month-old ewes who will join Nankin Bantam, Dominique and Dorking chickens at the park's farm. The Gulf Coast sheep are a 19th-century breed. w Move to the music at the CitySlickers Bluegrass Festival, which is being held at the Science Museum of Virginia. In addition to Ralph Stanley, who's known as one of the greatest bluegrass musicians of all time, and his Clinch Mountain Boys, Jackass Flats and Special Ed and the Short Bus will also be performing. Gates open at 2:30 p.m. with the final performance by Stanley starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and are available at all Plan 9 Music locations or by calling 877-MUSIC-77. Children 12 and under get in free with a paid adult.
w Chester puts on its own version of Antique Road Show today from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. The Chester Antique Evaluation Roadshow will be held at Chester Christian Church, 4330 Curtis St. Specialties of the evaluators include Civil War memorabilia, books, early furniture, paintings, toys and pottery. The fee to have one item evaluated is $10, or three items for $25. Proceeds will benefit the Chester Lions Club and the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia. The 14th Annual Museum District Mother's Day House Tour will be held today from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. You can walk it or be shuttled by Benedictine High School, which will circulate among the stops on the tour throughout the day.
