Earlier this month, the Richmond Metropolitan Authority announced a toll increase on Powhite Parkway and the Downtown Expressway. Here's a look by the numbers at the RMA:
$25.7 million
Revenue from the toll roads for fiscal year 2007. That's 0.8 percent more than the $25.1 million in revenue generated during the fiscal year 2006.
$13 million
Total operating expenses for the Expressway System during the fiscal year 2007, which is a 5 percent increase from 2006. The increased costs were for processing the SmarTag/E-Z Pass transactions and increased costs for roadway maintenance.
20 cents
Toll increase for the Forest Hill Avenue ramps and mainline plazas of the Powhite Parkway and Downtown Expressway. It's also the initial amount drivers were required to pay to drive on the Powhite Parkway. The Downtown Expressway started off with 15-cent tolls.
