At its Monday meeting, Richmond City Council will talk about proposed budget amendments and the results of report on the attempted schools' eviction.
On council's informal agenda, members are slated to receive reports from the Richmond Behavioral Health Authority and the Community Criminal Justice Board. They're also scheduled to talk about the budget.
Members will also likely talk about what action should be taken and the results of the investigatory committee that looked into the attempted eviction of the school system from City Hall on Sept. 21. At council's May 5 organizational development meeting, councilman Chris Hilbert (3rd), who headed the investigatory committee, gave council members a report on their findings.
The findings included several unanswered questions from the mayor's office; circumvented procurement policies and misappropriated funds among other things. The mayor's office has called the report "total fabrication and poppycock."
On council's formal agenda is the first paper related to the city's plans for riverfront development. The paper would authorize the acquisition of 3111 Water Street, known as the Lehigh property, for the purpose of providing an open public space along the river for the Virginia Capital Trail, a 50-mile bike route from Richmond to Williamsburg.
There are also 35 budget-related papers council is scheduled to take up. No public comment will be allowed on these papers because they received public comment at a hearing two weeks ago.
However, at least three of those papers that deal with a stormwater utility plan will be withdrawn after the mayor decided to delay the plan because of increased gas prices and the likely increase of electricity costs this summer.
Council's informal meeting starts at 3 p.m. in the second floor council chambers of City Hall while the formal meeting begins at 6 p.m.
