My childhood is a blur of activities. Soccer practices, school recitals, swim team, tee ball, birthday parties, family outings, homework, trips to the dentist and lots and lots of slumber parties.

I'm exhausted just thinking about it. But truth be told, I didn't actually do much in preparation for any of those events. I got dressed, sat in the backseat of a car and then engaged in the activity with all the energy of a 10-year-old.

My mother was the one who did the real work -- times three. And she did it all on top of a full-time job, all of the house cleaning and yard work and she did it without once complaining … at least not to me.

Mothers truly are some pretty amazing people. While Father's Day might involve a tie and a few steaks thrown on the grill, Mother's Day is a day of rest and celebration. And it starts with the meal.

So this Mother's Day give your mom some much deserved time off and treat her to brunch in her favorite restaurant. It really is the least you can do.

Richmond.com will be updating this list of Richmond Mother's Day Brunch options throughout April and May, so be sure to check back periodically to get the latest list.

Bacchus: Bacchus serves one of the newest brunch menus in town. If that's not enough to impress mom then maybe the Mediterranean flavors of this Fan spot will do the trick. Four versions of eggs Benedict, including smoked salmon and spinach and crabmeat, Mediterranean and smoked salmon frittatas, chocolate pancakes, breakfast pizza and much more, all for under $10. Mom is sure to love it. Brunch is served from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Reservations are accepted; call 804-355-9919.
