When it comes to Richmond dining, there are few things that locals agree upon. Favorite watering holes, best spot to take out-of-towners, most decadent desserts, etc. Everyone has their favorite and, at times, it seems we're willing to fight to the death to assert ours as number one.

But when it comes to barbeque, it's a different story. Richmonders seem to overwhelmingly agree on one favorite -- Buz and Ned’s (please see comments below as I anticipate there will be dozens asserting the opposite) just north of the Fan on the Boulevard.

And when you're as beloved as Buz and Ned's, it's only a matter of time before you realize that one location just won't do.

Which is why, at long last, the folks behind Richmond's favorite barbeque have announced their plans to open a second location, Buz and Ned's "The Sequel." Slated to open in early 2009, "The Sequel" will be located in The Shops at Winding Brook, an under construction retail shopping center in Hanover County.

The new restaurant will offer the same menu and flavors that Richmonders love, only this time it'll be in a much bigger place. Buz and Ned's “The Sequel” will be a 6,000-square-foot restaurant that seats 180 inside and 60 on the patio. The new location will also have a retail shop where diners can purchase Buz and Ned's apparel, sauces and other fun gifts and cookware. Be sure to check back with Richmond.com for more details.

And speaking of restaurants in need of a second location, if you're not on Acacia’s mailing list, you are missing out. When this award-winning Carytown restaurant served its last meal at the end of 2006 before seeking out new digs, diners immediately mourned its loss.

It'll still be a few weeks (at least) until its new Robinson and Cary streets location is open, but in the meantime, chef/owner Dale Reizer has been cooking up a few special catered dinners. There's just one catch -- these catered dinners are by invitation only and the only way to find out about them is to be on their e-mail list.

And if you want to be a part of history, this weekend is your chance. The River City Fan Festival, this Saturday, May 10, is attempting to go for a Guinness Book of World Records' entry for the Largest Plate of Nachos. The folks at Banditos will be putting the gigantic plate of nachos together, which we hear will top 3,000 pounds of cheesy goodness. The festival takes place at the intersection of Colonial and Patterson avenues (right by Banditos) and includes live music, adult beverages and fun for the kids. A $2 donation at the door goes to Cullather Brain Tumor Quality of Life Center at Bon Secours.

i definitely must disagree about buz and ned's.. highly overrated. i think the best in town is alexander's, on westbriar before Goochland. wish they would expand!!
