The museum's Exhibit Phase III Studies Remembrance.  Open daily Tuesdays – Saturdays.

“Midnight in the Garden of Quilts” takes visitors for a walk down the dark side of quilting. This infamous collection of macabre quilts and ephemera consists of mourning quilts, coffin drapes, and quilts of presidential assassination, along with critter quilts, quilts from the headlines, and creepy crib quilts! A visiting exhibit of the Polly Mello Collection.

“Treasures from the Vault: Crazy Quilts” complement the Mello collection. A Victorian era fad of asymmetrically-pieced style and intricate embellishment, these quilts often included names, birth and death dates, and quotes commemorating family members. The style was inspired by the “crazed glaze” finish of Japanese pottery introduced to America at the 1876 Centennial.

“A Potpourri of Quilts: The Floyd Quilt Guild” quilters’ collection pays tribute to time-honored styles and techniques, explores the diversity of fiber art, and engages new trends, all the while pursuing unique and personal creativity.

Blue Star Museum participant.
