CBS News correspondent Edward R. Murrow boarded the D for Dog for a night mission over Germany on Dec. 2, 1943. His subsequent broadcast, nicknamed "Orchestrated Hell," is regarded as a classic example of war reportage. But CBS banned Murrow from ever putting himself in harm's way like that again. It was not an overreaction. D for Dog went missing during a raid on Berlin on Jan. 3, 1944.
