Richmond-based heavy-metal band Lamb of God has canceled its upcoming tour because singer Randy Blythe remains jailed in the Czech Republic.

Blythe, 41, is being detained on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of a fan after a 2010 concert in Prague. The singer was arrested June 27 at Prague's airport as the band arrived before a concert the next day.

Blythe remains jailed after prosecutors challenged his $400,000 bail. A judge is expected to rule on the challenge within days. Then, about five days after the ruling, prosecutors will decide whether Blythe will face formal manslaughter charges.

Blythe could face five to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Lamb of God's tour was scheduled to begin Wednesday in Seattle.

"The band regrets the decision, but the uncertainty of Randy's release makes it impossible to carry on with the tour," Lamb of God said in a statement on its website. "The band thanks all of the fans who bought tickets for the tour and who have been supportive of Randy and the band over the last month that Randy has been held in Prague."

The band said it will rebook the tour once Blythe is freed.

Czech officials contend that Blythe shoved a fan from the stage during a concert at Prague's Club Abaton on May 24, 2010. The fan reportedly suffered a brain hemorrhage that left him comatose. He died two weeks after the incident.

Martin Radvan, Blythe's Czech attorney, said last week that Blythe has been passing his time in jail by writing songs and working on a book.

More than 26,000 fans have signed an online petition on the White House's website urging the U.S. State Department to intervene in the case. A call to the State Department requesting comment was not returned.
