To our readers:
As you’ve probably heard by now, we’re combining TimesDispatch.com and Richmond.com to create Central Virginia’s top digital source for news, entertainment, opinion and information.
And it happens today.
When you visit the new site, which is called Richmond.com, you will find the trusted news coverage of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the engaging arts and entertainment content from Richmond.com and the detailed reporting of surrounding counties provided by Richmond Suburban News.
Three sources of information. One indispensable site.
Richmond.com is still the website for the Richmond Times-Dispatch. You’ll see the newspaper’s branding clearly on the site. And we want to assure you the new site will feature the work of all the reporters, columnists and photographers from the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond.com and the Richmond Suburban news publications (Mechanicsville Local, Powhatan Today and the Goochland Gazette).

Here’s what you can expect as we make this transition.
What do you need to do?
We’re working to minimize the impact on you. The TimesDispatch.com URL will redirect to the new site both for desktop and mobile web. If you have bookmarks to sections or articles on TimesDispatch.com, those will continue to work. Our e-mail newsletters will continue, as will our social media accounts. And we’ll push updates to your mobile apps, so nothing is required from you there either. You will be required to log into the new site. All users who have online accounts have been contacted by e-mail with instructions.
What is changing?
You will notice a new design for the site. We’ve tried to organize it in a way that is intuitive and easy to navigate. We’ve redesigned the navigation bar and elevated some topics that are growing in popularity in the Richmond area. And many of our locality pages — including Hanover, Goochland and Powhatan — will feature content from the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Richmond Suburban News group. As a result, these pages have more content and offer a more complete report.
Subscriptions
Everyone will have unlimited free access to the new Richmond.com desktop and mobile site today through Sunday, Jan. 4. This includes an electronic edition, or replica edition, of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. We want you to get used to the new site without restrictions. Starting Monday, Jan. 5, we will use the same All Access subscription plan that TimesDispatch.com currently does. Non-subscribers may read 20 articles per 30-day period at no charge. After that, we ask you to subscribe. We have print and digital offerings as well as a digital-only option. If you’re already an All Access subscriber, remember to log in at some point after the new Richmond.com launches.
