Three police agencies collaborated on Friday to arrest a Chesterfield County man in the Dec. 28 fatal shooting of Anthony Sweat, the brother of Washington Football Team pass rusher Montez Sweat, Henrico County police announced late Friday.
Henrico police, with assistance from Virginia State Police and Chesterfield police, located and safely arrested Shon Bloomfield, 47, of the 9600 block of Benbow Road in Chesterfield. He was charged with second-degree murder and felonious use of a firearm.
Bloomfield is accused of killing Sweat, 27, who was shot and killed in an open area behind an apartment complex in the 7000 block of Wistar Village Drive.
Sweat was from Stone Mountain, Ga., but had ties to the Richmond area, according to Henrico police.
At 4:09 p.m. on Dec. 28, officers responded to multiple emergency calls about the shooting. By that time, many people had fled the area, but others remained to render aid to Sweat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police on Friday did not disclose how Bloomfield was known to the victim or describe the circumstances of the shooting.
Bloomfield is being held in the Henrico Jail without bond.
