Two people were killed in a crash near Lake Anna in Louisa County on Monday.

State police said two vehicles collided about 6:45 p.m. in the 2600 block of New Bridge Road, about 1 mile east of Kentucky Springs Road.

According to police, the driver of a 2005 Ford Mustang lost control while entering a curve on eastbound New Bridge Road. The vehicle slid into oncoming traffic and was struck in the side by a 2004 Dodge 2500.

The Mustang's driver, 21-year-old Larry A. Booth III of Spotsylvania, died at the scene, as did his passenger, a 17-year-old male from Spotsylvania whose name was not released. The passenger was wearing a seat belt but Booth was not, police said.

The driver of the Dodge, 31-year-old Michael L. Forbes of Mineral, has been released from UVA Medical Center after treatment. He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
