Lynnhaven Academy announced Wednesday that Casey Hitchcock is its new head of school. She is currently the head of middle school and teaches English at the campus, located at 1000 Westover Hills Blvd.
Hitchcock will replace Johnathan Harris as the head of the seventh- through 12th-grade school. Harris is transitioning into a new role as the school’s executive director. He founded the school in 2012.
“Casey’s strong ability to make authentic connections with students, families, and the community is exactly what we were looking for in a leader. Her deep passion and commitment to the school, diverse education and leadership experience aligns with our core value,” said Courtney Hughes, the chairwoman of Lynnhaven Academy’s board of directors, in a prepared statement.
Hitchcock is an alumna of Ohio University and Vanderbilt University. The military spouse — her husband, Zachary, is a major in the Army — started her career as a sixth-grade social studies and language arts teacher in Fort Campbell.
The family lives in Bon Air.
