GARRETT, Barbara "Bobbie" Allen, daughter of the late Wendell Lotts Allen and George Harvey Allen, died December 8, 2016, in Henrico, Va. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, H. Lewis "Buddy" Garrett; sister, Ray Allen Duckhardt of Tampa, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend whom she thought of as a son, Tony Dalton and his wife, Maurcine. Tony and Maurcine gave her two beautiful granddaughters, Madison and Ava. Bobbie was a lifelong resident of Richmond, having graduated from John Marshall High School and attended Longwood University in Farmville, Va., where she received the 1994 Distinguished Alumni Award for Community Service and served on the Longwood Foundation Board for many years. She was a 50-year member of Alpha Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority and served as a national officer for 10 years. Mrs. Garrett retired from the Virginia Bankers Association as Vice President of professional development and Assistant Corporate Secretary. She was the Associate Director of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia for 15 years. She was an elder and Sunday school teacher at Salisbury Presbyterian Church; a board member of The Virginia Voice, The American Lung Association of Virginia and The Shepherd's Center of Richmond; a past president of the Salisbury Woman's Club and past president and member of the Senior Board of Children's Hospital for over 50 years; past president of the Richmond Public Relations Association; and a member of The Tuckahoe Woman's Club. Buddy wishes to thank the healthcare staff at The Hermitage at Cedarfield for the wonderful care given to Bobbie during her stay the last four years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bobbie Garrett, to The Children's Hospital Foundation, 2924 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220. Visitation will be 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 11, at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23229. Interment private. Bobbie's life will be celebrated at a memorial service, 3 p.m. Sunday, December 18, at The Hermitage at Cedarfield, 2300 Cedarfield Pkwy., Henrico, Va. 23233.
