Redskins fan takes one last shot at team in obituary

  • 0

An obituary for John Ray Bartgis of Mechanicsville ran in today's Times-Dispatch.

His obituary included a reference to his favorite professional football team.

"John was also a diehard Washington Redskins fan," the obituary read. "And one of his final wishes was that the team members would be his pallbearers so they can let him down one last time."

Bartgis certainly suffered through some lean seasons in his final years, though he was alive for all three of the team's Super Bowl titles.

A fan in Cleveland used a similar line last year, to which the Browns responded by sending a custom jersey for the funeral.
