Sustainable Technology Institute

Sustainable Technology Institute (STI) provides a myriad of energy efficiency related services to the central Virginia region.

Our Urban Farm and Training Center is located in the heart of Richmond City and receives all of its energy needs through a large solar photovoltaic array, solar thermal panels, and the creation of biogas through the use of anaerobic digesters. The facility features over 3000 sq. ft. of urban greenhouse space where vegetables and fish are grown in a closed loop aquaponic system.

STI performs home and commercial energy audits and weatherization work as its primary economic base, as well as consultation and design/build in the sustainable home building field.  A variety of workforce training classes are offered in the fields of energy auditing, renewable energy, and urban gardening and aquaponics.  STI prides itself in its holistic view of sustainable energy training and urban revitalization,
