In keeping with its mission to improve the health and well-being of communities, Bon Secours Health System offers a trio of treatment options aimed at meeting individuals where they are.
Let’s take a closer look.
Urgent care
When a simple bandage or some aspirin won’t do (but waiting to see your primary care provider isn’t an option), visiting an urgent care center is likely the best solution. Urgent care centers are equipped to handle minor illnesses and injuries — from colds, flu and ear infections to cuts and fractures — by providing convenient access and extended hours. Urgent cares are also equipped with on-site X-ray and labs.
For busy patients who value flexibility and the convenience of weekend and evening hours — without sacrificing quality — Bon Secours began expanding its network of urgent care centers in Richmond with the mid-June opening of Bon Secours Urgent Care, Midlothian.
“We are proud to expand and scale our urgent care offerings to improve access to same-day care, making health care easier for patients throughout the Richmond area,” said Mike Lutes, market president, Bon Secours, Richmond.
“When you or your child is ill or injured, there’s no need to suffer. Our Bon Secours Urgent Care clinics give patients another option — one that’s connected to our entire system of doctors, specialists and hospitals should further care be needed,” added Lutes.
Emergency care
Because a hospital’s emergency room is staffed 24 hours a day, it is designed to treat individuals experiencing life-threatening injuries or serious illness.
“If you are having chest pain, difficulty breathing or signs/symptoms of stroke — such as difficulty with speech or numbness/weakness in your face, arms or legs — you should seek emergency care immediately,” said emergency medicine physician Dr. Tina Latimer of the Bon Secours Chester Emergency Center.
Primary care
Annual checkups, health issues and chronic conditions that are neither urgent nor emergent should be addressed via regular visits with your primary care physician — considered the first (and most essential) step in achieving a lifetime of optimal wellness.
New urgent care locations
Four additional locations — in the East End, Regency Square, Nuckols Road and Swift Creek areas — are slated to open their doors in the coming months, bringing the total number of Bon Secours Urgent Care centers in the region to six, with additional locations planned for 2024.
“Our vision is to deliver the quality, compassionate care Bon Secours is known for in a more personalized, quick and convenient setting,” said Lutes. “We want patients to spend less time waiting and more time with their health care provider.”
