A child’s life is constantly changing. Every day provides opportunities for new experiences, lessons and adventure. But with that also comes uncertainty, and when unexpected illnesses or accidents occur, families need to know that the hospital they choose is always ready for whatever comes next.
For the last 105 years, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU has been providing the families of Virginia and the world with expert pediatric care. Considered a top 50 children’s hospital by U.S. News and World Report in eight of 11 ranked subspecialities, as well as a top 10 children’s hospital in the Mid-Atlantic region, CHoR is dedicated to providing unstoppable care for kids in every possible way.
For over a century, philanthropy has been the main driver of the hospital’s mission to heal kids and help them grow. From their first dedicated children’s hospital in 1928, to the most recent addition of the Children’s Tower in 2023, personal donations and investments have helped them operate as a safety-net hospital, providing care to families regardless of their ability to pay.
Donations help the hospital achieve the progress being made for the over 80,000 kids cared for annually. From building out shell spaces in the Children’s Tower — including a 20-bed NICU expansion and an additional 24-bed acute care unit — to improving our Family Resource Center which addresses food, transportation and housing insecurity, to recruiting the specialists and teams needed to develop new programs, you can help CHoR meet the growing needs of our community and remain a leader in pediatric healthcare.
