Featuring the internationally traveled National Capital Band of The Salvation Army, our local Central Virginia Area Command hosted their annual Christmas Concert and Carol Singalongs at St. Mary's Church on Saturday, December 2. Area Commanders Major Samuel and Christine Kim, Divisional Secretary Major Daniel Nelson, and 2023 Richmond Christmas Mother Jacquelin Ukrop Aronson and her daughter, bookended the program and offered prayers and reflections of hope, joy and wonder. This concert is a longstanding tradition and gift from The Salvation Army of Central Virginia to the community, featuring Christmas carols and singalongs, the story of Jesus read by youth members from the Richmond Citadel Corps/Church, and new this year, The Legend of Old Wenceslas – a collaborative arrangement performed by members of the Corps’ youth brass band alongside the National Capital Band.
"This gift to our community from The Salvation Army of Central Virginia is one that everyone in Greater Richmond should receive. It is a free concert and offers an incredible experience led by the officers of The Salvation Army and featuring a most talented and acclaimed brass band. Be on the look-out for details next fall for the 2024 concert - you will not want to miss it," shared Mrs. Aronson.Â
