On Saturday, November 18th, Puritan Cleaners and the Flying Squirrels hosted their annual Ballpark Warming Party at the Diamond to support the Coats for Kids program. After the two-hour collection period, not one, not two, but three vans were completely filled top to bottom with gently worn coats donated from people across Greater Richmond. How heart-warming to see so many folks generously bringing loads of coats to share with others who will now be warm this winter!
The following representatives were among those present:
Puritan Cleaners' Gary Glover and his wife Petra who served as the 2021 Richmond Christmas Mother;
Parney, Flying Squirrels staff, Nutzy, and Nutasha;
Majors Samuel and Christine Kim and staff members from The Salvation Army of Central Virginia; and,
Kid-friendly activities were enjoyed and lots of fun was had by all! Nutzy and Nutasha jumped into the growing pile of coats and were joined by Parney and Ben Terry of the Flying Squirrels, Sara Moncrieff of Coats for Kids, and the 2021 and 2023 Richmond Christmas Mothers.
"Thank you to all who have donated their gently used coats to Puritans for repair and cleaning this year," commented Mrs. Aronson. "It will be so special for those in need of a winter coat to select one from the rows and rows of clean coats hanging at The Salvation Army's Christmas Center. Just a reminder: if you are ready to pass on a coat that no longer fits or that you will no longer be wearing, it's not too late to drop it off at one of the Puritan Cleaners' locations."
