Bad news, Richmond. For the second year in a row, 14309 Long Hill Road in Brandermill won't be lighting up again for local holiday tradition of Tacky Lights.
The Bottoms' home won the USA Today poll for Best Private Holiday Lights Display in 2014. Their award-winning lights were so popular they had to shut down early because their display was clogging traffic in their Brandermill neighborhood.
Hunter Bottoms, who does the work on the display with his dad Buck Bottoms, is expecting his second child this year. But he says he hopes to bring back the holiday lights in 2017.
But fear not. Homeowners from other popular spots on the Tacky Lights Tour are already in their yards, working on their super-wattage displays.
The Phifers at 9604 and 9606 Asbury Court in the West End are already working on their million and a half light display. You can follow their progress on their Facebook page, A Phifer Christmas.
Al Thompson at 9716 Wendhurst Drive in Glen Allen has been busy in his workshop this year and announced that his popular display will now feature 100% homemade cut-outs and creations. You can follow his progress on his Facebook page.
The Oregon Hill Christmas House has been collecting new vintage decorations all year for their display. New additions posted to their Facebook page include a vintage Mrs. Claus and a vintage Mary and Joseph set.
You can take a look at last year's coverage on our Tacky Lights page.
We will run an updated list and map of the homes lighting up for 2016 the week of Thanksgiving.
