What do you believe most contributed to your organization being recognized as a Top Workplace this year?
We do our best to put an emphasis on making sure that everyone can be themselves, have a voice and understand what is going on at the highest level of the company down to the small things. Listening to what the team wants and implementing positive change has made a big difference for us all.

What steps have you taken to promote employee well-being and prevent burnout?
We have been fortunate to be supported in our training programs and growth opportunities. We also have quarterly market meetings where we gather for breakfast or lunch with a planned fun activity. In addition, we plan outings to events like Flying Squirrels games and Drive Shack.
What’s one initiative that has had the greatest impact on employee morale?
I believe our quarterly meetings allow our team to know what is going on and the impact they make. Team gatherings and celebrations have been uplifting and exciting for us all as we work hard and like to play hard as well. I am proud that we all find communication and respect as an important part of our team.
With AI and automation reshaping many industries, how are you helping employees feel prepared and be assured they will not be replaced by emerging technology?
We are in an industry that requires human touch and interaction, thankfully, but we use AI to help make us better with our current activities programs. We try to be creative in what we do and how we think, as new ideas are always welcome.
As organizations refine hybrid and in-office expectations, how are you balancing flexibility with maintaining culture and collaboration?
I do not clock our employees but just ask that they get the job done. Some have jobs that require them to be in the office; some must be in the field to get their job done. We also preach and practice that family comes first. When they need to be home, they work from home if they can or take the time they need. We are flexible.
How does being based in the Richmond region influence your workplace culture?
Richmond offers so much for all interests, has great schools, parks, and is a diverse community that really makes this a great home for all of us. We try to foster the same community and even better in our day-to-day work environment.
How do you encourage philanthropy and a connection to the Greater Richmond community among your employees?
Mungo has a strong culture of giving back, and our team loves partaking at any chance. We give each employee 16 hours of volunteer time off and more if needed. Two times a year, we have a “Week of Giving” where we work with different groups that need help. What I am most proud of is how the team supports each other’s families. Philanthropy is a huge part of what we do.
