Thanks to the incredible support received during this year’s Puritan Cleaners 100K Meals campaign, more Central Virginia children will have access to nourishing meals this summer.
Each spring, Puritan Cleaners rallies our community to raise food and funds for local families in need, and this year’s campaign delivered a truly remarkable result: more than 231,000 meals raised for the children and families we serve.
And Puritan Cleaners’ support is especially important right now. Today, 1 in 6 children across Central Virginia are facing hunger, and for many families, summertime can bring even greater uncertainty. During the school year, thousands of local children and teens rely on free or reduced-price school meals as a consistent source of nourishment. But when school lets out for the summer, those dependable meals disappear. And we know that without reliable access to nutritious food, children are more likely to experience difficulty concentrating and increased risks of stress, anxiety and other health concerns.
But because of Puritan Cleaners’ continued partnership and the incredible generosity of our community, more children and families across Central Virginia will have access to the nourishing meals they need to stay healthy, supported and ready to thrive all summer long.
We’re deeply grateful to Puritan Cleaners for their longstanding commitment to our neighbors year after year, and to CBS 6 and the Scripps Howard Fund for their generous support and for helping spread the word about this important campaign.
And to every person who donated, shared and helped make a difference: thank you. Your generosity will help us bring nourishing food for wholesome meals to children and families, all summer long.
