Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 762 (Brandy Road) to through traffic at the bridge over Jonas Run for repairs. The road is expected to reopen Friday, Sept. 18.
The bridge is located about one mile east of Route 342 (State Police Road) and just under one mile west of Route 663 (Alanthus Road). Crews will construct a new concrete overhang and install new steel posts, curbs and guardrails.
During the closure, Brandy Road through traffic will follow a signed detour using Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) and Alanthus Road. Access to all driveway entrances will be maintained for local traffic during the work.
All work is weather permitting. Drivers should use caution near the work zone and follow posted detour signs.
Current traffic conditions, VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras, and other travel information are available on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.
VDOT’s Culpeper District includes the counties of Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. The independent city of Charlottesville maintains its own roads.
