We have a diverse workforce, and that is one of the reasons we are successful. Leveraging the variety of perspectives is what makes us unique. We care about what our employees have to say, so when it comes to problem-solving, having a variety of perspectives on how to tackle the issue is what makes us so successful.

How do you create an environment where all employees feel a sense of belonging and have opportunities for growth?
We have created an environment that makes employees feel like anything is possible if they are willing to try and they are willing to operate by the company’s core values. We have several programs that help support a sense of belonging and opportunities for growth. We have a leadership program that helps foster operating by our values and growing within the company. We have an ESL program that supports English language learners. We have a mentorship program to support employees as they grow within their department. We have monthly All Hands meetings led by our leadership team that include business updates, so all employees feel included. We get regular feedback through fireside chats (focus groups) and use that feedback to create a better workplace environment.

Philanthropic support is important to your organization. Why is supporting organizations important for businesses like yours, and how does corporate social responsibility influence your employees?
Being ‘Super’ means we care for our world, our community. We are committed to raising awareness about and fostering inclusivity in engineering, manufacturing and thermodynamics by building pathways to education and career development. We want to inspire the future and help people succeed in their work and careers. Our Community Engagement Program supports and helps develop programs and initiatives in the Richmond region in the areas of education and workforce development. In these areas, we leverage existing programs and work with vetted, well-established organizations who have a data-driven track record of success. We seek partners who will both understand our company’s unique culture, operation and place in the world of thermodynamics, engineering and manufacturing and will work with us on multiple levels throughout our organization to touch, teach, train and inspire as many people as possible. We seek to not only maximize and optimize the use of our donated funds but also contribute resources in the form of skilled workers, enthusiastic employees and supportive leaders.
