How do you feel your workplace culture contributes to your company being named a Top Workplace?
We started Range so that we could have the flexibility to go above and beyond. We wanted to be free to take quick, decisive action on behalf of the people who rely on us either for their business or their livelihood without having to answer to shareholders. This means we’ve been able to do more to build real relationships, have positivity in the workplace and show we care about the needs of our team.

How do you ensure employees feel heard, valued and supported in their roles while fostering open communication at all levels of the organization?
Open communication comes from developing trust with everyone on the team. Leaders have to demonstrate through action that issues raised and requests made will be addressed in a meaningful way. Whether it’s a collective organizational change or an individual need to be supported and grow in their career, it is important to find a real solution promptly. It may seem like a small or obvious thing, but it makes all the difference and builds confidence in employees that what they say matters.

What’s so important about having an attractive benefits package?
It is our way of taking care of them. We want them to know that we do care about their quality of life and their families outside of the office. We also listen to them to determine what other benefits would be attractive to them. That led us to add pet insurance.
Philanthropic support is important to your organization. Why is supporting organizations important for businesses like yours, and how does corporate social responsibility influence your employees?
Service days and philanthropic initiatives are a great way for our team to come together and help give back. We often will ask what needs they see in the community and what organizations are meaningful to them, and then we’ll get involved as a group. We care about the causes our employees care about, so service is our guiding value for a reason.

We rely on the expertise of our employees. We hired them for a reason. They are experienced and talented and hardworking, so we trust them with professional autonomy to help us guide the company’s success. In that way, everyone has some ownership of Range, which means people care about being a contributing member of our team.
